Stones Throw Records began 15 years ago as a vinyl-only label and continues producing LPs, 12-inch and 7-inch singles well into the digital age. The label’s vinyl-centric roots and pursuit of “music by DJs for DJs” has evolved in recent years to include a roster of artists with fully developed live performances.

Christmas Time Is Here (Vince Guaraldi Cover) | MAYER HAWTHORNE
(via missconceptions.)
Yay! MH should do a Christmas album!
All the best Christmas songs were written by Jews, and Chanukah songs suck. This is my favorite Christmas tune, sung over the Vince Guaraldi instrumental.
Cheers,
Mayer Hawthorne

Dennis Coffey- F**k You
Dennis Coffey, one of the all-time great Detroit guitarists, member of original Motown house band The Funk Brothers and the man behind classic breakbeats “Scorpio” and “Theme From Black Belt Jones” is back in the studio recording a brand new album, signed up to Strut for release in 2011.
Details on the album are forthcoming, but for now enjoy this teaser video in which Coffey is joined by a host of Detroit friends, incuding Mayer Hawthorne, drummer Melvin Davis, and some other folks you might recognize for cheeky take on Cee-Lo’s ‘F*@k You,’ a track influenced by the Motown sound he helped create.
