I try to live my own life / even though my mind is over-exposed / but I hope that I see the light at the end of the road
Song of the Day: Alif Tree - Never Be The Same
tell me what you want / I just want to do something there for you / everything is clear if we keep it real / I just wanna see your smile again…
One of the most impressive aspects I noticed while listening to your last album is stylistic variety… “Never Be The Same” seems to be not just a title of a song, but the key to describe this Clockwork, doesn’t it?
Yes. The whole album speaks about time. Bringing hopes, possibilities or fears. Time is always the key. And you know that if you don’t take it, it will take you. Movement, questioning, curiosity and surprises are the things I like the most in life and in human beings. I’m alergic to immobility, certainty and all that kind of small boxes that a part of the society would like to put us in. Musical styles and nicknames like trip hop or electro whatever are parts of it, and I naturally try to escape out of those….
Because this is music day, today’s question is:
What bands/artists have you seen perform live?
Let me see how many I can remember…
Jay-Z, Method Man, Red Man, DMX, Ja Rule, KRS-One, O.D.B., RZA, Wu-Tang Clan, Wu-Tang Killa Beez, Killarmy, Cypress Hill, The Pharcyde, Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5, Black Eyed Peas (pre-Fergie & w/Fergie), Lenny Kravitz, Janet Jackson, Wyclef Jean, N*E*R*D (2x), Atmosphere (3x), Lupe Fiasco (2x), Rihanna, Kanye West, The Grouch, Eligh, A Tribe Called Quest (2x), The Procussions, 311, Mos Def, The Roots, Living Legends, Murs, Rage Against the Machine, Hieroglyphics, The Coup, My Chemical Romance, MxPx, The Transplants, Fall Out Boy, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, The Clipse, Ludacris, Esthero, Buff1, Mayer Hawthorne (2x + 1x DJ Haircut), Madlib, Peanut Butter Wolf, Blu & Exile, Blu (Johnson & Jonson), DJ Q-Bert
Also, had tickets to No Doubt in July but I ended up not going. Saddest day ever. =(
…There might be more but that’s all I can remember right now.
Edit: Oops, forgot Justin Timberlake. ;X haha.
An unlikely assortment of famous fans has brought Mayer Hawthorne and his album A Strange Arrangement to the attention of the world. There’s rapper Snoop Dogg, who personally tracked him down to share his appreciation; there’s producer Mark Ronson, who surely admired Hawthorne’s take on the vintage soul sound which he and Amy Winehouse used to such good effect on Back To Black; then there’s Terry Wogan, who’s played single Your Easy Lovin’ Ain’t Pleasin’ Nothin’ on his breakfast show.
